For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16
Like millions of people, I think Christmas is the best time of the year. In addition to being blessed with a lifetime of wonderful Christmas memories, I love much of what makes this season distinct—the lights, decorations, Christmas cards and gift-giving! And, isn’t it heartening to hear Christmas carols heralding the birth of Jesus through the corridors of shopping malls? Regardless of motive, for the month of December, the secular world allows the message of the Savior’s birth to go largely uncriticized. After all, there would be no Christmas without Jesus!
So now, when the world seems a bit more kind, despite our busyness with holiday preparations and plans, let’s grab this unique opportunity to share the true meaning of Christmas with someone who needs to hear it. A friend. A coworker. A family member. The barista at your coffee shop. Ask God to place that special person in your path—someone whose ears are open, whose heart is ready to receive. And when they do, with heaven rejoicing and their name written in the Book of Life, they will know they have just been given the best Christmas gift ever.
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS
As believers in Christ, we all know that sharing our faith with others should be our utmost desire. But so many of us find it difficult to do. Begin with prayer—asking God to provide both opportunities and the right words for each one. Also, recognize that planting seeds by dropping a simple word or two is also a valuable beginning. Let’s make this Christmas a season when our faith becomes most evident in all we say and do.
