So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. - 2 Corinthians 3:18
If you’ve ever sat on the shore of a lake on a still day, you’ve seen the reflections of the surrounding landscape in the water. The hills, the trees and even the clouds above are revealed in the lake below. It’s not a perfect reflection, but when the water is calm, the images are clear to see and beautiful in their representation.
We were made to reflect the image of God. Patterned after our own Creator, we are being shaped and transformed to be more like Him as we surrender ourselves to his teaching and guidance. But, just like the lake, we can only reflect His image clearly when we allow His peace to still our hearts and calm the waters of stress that ripple through our lives. We need to spend time with God in prayer and in His Word. When we do, we too become a beautiful representation of our loving Father in heaven.
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS
Sometimes finding a quiet moment in our busy schedules can seem impossible. And being still with God can be even more difficult. But making this practice a priority cultivates a transformative discipline that begins to shape the essence of who we are. Let’s set aside a few moments daily this week to read God’s Word and sit in His presence. Doing this will help us reflect His image in greater ways.
