Congratulations!

You’ve made the single most important decision of your life! It’s life-altering! It’s life-giving! And guaranteed—the angels in heaven are singing up a storm because you opened your heart to Jesus! I am right there too—celebrating with you and thanking God for this milestone moment in your life!

Having a relationship with God is the foundation for a life of purpose and meaning. Knowing God gives us a perspective that goes beyond our circumstances and effectiveness that goes beyond our own abilities. He gives confidence and peace we cannot find anywhere else and guidance to navigate life, day by day.

Now as you begin your journey of faith, there are several things that will encourage your relationship with God and nurture your personal growth:

Read your Bible.

The Bible is God’s inspired Word to us. Reading it opens up our understanding of Him and gives us direction and support in living our lives. It’s one way that God can speak to us. That’s why we should make reading His Word part of our daily routine.

If you’re new to reading the Bible, a good place to start is by reading the book of John, where you can learn about the life of Jesus.

Spend time with God in prayer.

When we talk in prayer, we have immediate access to God Himself. He listens to every word we say. He wants us to pour out our hearts to Him—to tell Him our concerns, our longings, our fears, our hopes, our dreams and everything in between. He wants us to ask for the things we need and to express our gratitude for the good things He has blessed us with. Prayer is the place to spend time speaking openly with God. It’s a key part of a strong relationship with Him.

Get connected.

It’s important to find other believers to support your faith journey. We were made to be in community with one another and do life together in this world. Find a Bible-based church that you can attend regularly where you receive good teaching, worship freely, and develop connections with others that know Jesus.

Other tools for your support:
